Megan says she likes learning to play all the different songs. These days, she is working hard to develop a good hand position and to learn her notes. As a very new student, this will be her very first year to begin to enter into piano events. For this first year, we can expect to see her participate in the Holiday Recital, Temecula
Spring Music Auditions, and the June Awards Recital.

Megan says that her favorite subject in school is art. She also enjoys drawing in her free time. In addition to her school and piano lessons, Megan has taken hip hop lessons for the last 2 years!

As Megan’s teacher, I am enjoying getting to know her and seeing her enjoy her lessons as she improves each week. She is a sweet girl and always comes with a positive attitude and smile. She is showing good progress and steadily improving, and I look forward to seeing how much she will accomplish with this new year!

June / July 2020

Congratulations to James Meng!  James is 11 years old and in will be entering 6th grade this fall.  He began his piano lessons almost 2 years ago and has done so much in such a short time! James says that piano for him is calming and he likes the way it helps him go through the day!

Last year, James earned a gold medal in the Festival Auditions and earned “First Class Honors with Distinction” at his first Royal Conservatory Assessment which earned him an invitation to the RCM Recital of Excellence at USC. He also earned a trophy for having a top score in the Sonatina Festival and he performed at the Awards Recital!

This year, James is having another great year. He performed in our Holiday Recital and then became the first student from our studio to participate in the “new” online version of the RCM Assessments. He was able to skip a level and just completed level 2!  I’m very proud of how much he has accomplished; he was well prepared! Next, James will go on to participate in our first online piano recital coming up in July.

James says that his favorite subjects in school are math and writing. He also likes to play chess and solve the rubrics cube, and he was a member of the swimming team!

His favorite books are “Wings of Fire” and “Harry Potter” and his favorite places to go with his family are Knott’s Berry Farm and Legoland. His favorite food is Korean beef ribs (yum!).

James says that his favorite music piece is “Arabesque” which was also written by his favorite composer, Friedrich Burgmuller!

I am very proud of how much James has accomplished in such a short time; but even more proud of the diligence and dedication he has shown. He is always prepared and “works” hard to master his pieces and it has really shown in his many accomplishments. He is also a fun student with a great attitude and I really enjoy our lesson time together!
